Universal beams are available in a range of serial sizes from 127 x 76 up to 1016 x 305
Universal columns are available in a range of serial sizes from 152 x 152 up to 356 x 406

Our range of sizes can be supplemented by additional products from our approved supplier network - enabling us to deliver a total supply solution to your fabrication project. To reduce your contract complexity and risk we offer project management capabilities including:

  • stock management
  • inspection
  • logistics

UK Parallel Flange Channels

UK parallel flange channels are available in a range of serial sizes from 125 x 65 up to 430 x 100 in structural grades.

UK Universal Bearing Piles

Universal bearing piles are available in a range of serial sizes from 203 x 203 up to 356 x 368

UK Equal and Unequal Angles

Equal angles are available in a range of serial sizes from 120 x 120 up to and including 200 x 200
Unequal angles are available in a range of serial sizes from 200 x 100 up to and including 200 x 150

Asymmetric Slimflor® Beams (ASBs)

Asymmetric Slimflor® beams are a range of hot-rolled sections, rolled exclusively at Teesside Beam Mill, nominally between 280 and 300mm deep. They have a nominal 300mm wide bottom flange and a 190mm wide top flange with an embossed diamond raised rib pattern. They are available in grades S355JR, J0 and J2. This section is subject to a minimum rolling quantity.

An integral part of the Slimdek® system, Asymmetric Slimflor® Beams can be purchased separately. The key benefits are:

  • unique embossed top flange improves the engagement with the surrounding concrete and helps create composite action, significantly increasing the structural strength of the floor without the need for shear studs.
  • ASBs are a hot rolled structural section and not a fabricated member so they require no additional fabrication.
  • the product has inherent fire-resistance qualities, reducing or eliminating completely the need for fire protection
  • our team of experts are available to offer technical advice and assistance on the use and application of ASBs.

American wide flange sections

American wide flange sections are available in a range of sizes in accordance with ASTM A6/A6M from W6 x 6 up to W40 x 12, with serial sizes available in differing weights.  Certain heavier weights are also available, subject to prior agreement.

Specifying Advance® sections to the Eurocode

The simplified naming protocol adopted for Advance® sections - covering both section designation and material specification - makes it easier to specify steel sections which are fully compliant with CE marking.

Steel specification

Steel sections used in the UK should comply with EN10025. Non-alloy structural steels are manufactured in accordance with Part 2 and thermo-mechanically rolled weldable fine grain structural steels in accordance with Part 4. The tables here show the typical UK grades and properties for structural sections to EN10025: Parts 2 and 4 and how these relate to the simplified material specification for Advance sections.

Please note that Advance® sections can be specified in JR, J0 and J2 sub-grades but for situations where greater toughness is required, sub-grade K2 is available in S355 grade steel. In addition, M and ML specifications are available for heavily-loaded parts of welded structures such as bridges, flood gates, storage tanks, water supply tanks etc. for service at ambient and low temperatures.

It is vitally important that structural steelwork is specified correctly by the design engineer. The steel specification must cover the strength grade and the steel sub-grade. Specifying the correct steel sub-grade is important to ensure that brittle fracture is avoided.
