Tata Steel's range of low carbon aluminium killed steels provides levels of improved ductility, formability and strength to enable their use in a wide range of applications. These include the manufacture of screws, bolts and rivets commonly used in the automotive, mechanical engineering and construction sectors.
Tata Steel's boron steels offer excellent hardenability properties and perform consistently in cold forming and subsequent heat treatments, allowing the steel to be used to produce larger or higher strength components.
Tata Steel has extended its range of low carbon steels through the production of ULCB (Ultra Low Carbon Boron), a steel that offers the customer extreme levels of drawability and formability. ULCB is ideal for applications where additional reductions in both wire rod and cold heading are required. It eliminates the need for wire drawer annealing and interannealing. This can offer significant time and cost reductions in the manufacture of fasteners, including rivets and studs.
