As the corporate partner of the British Triathlon Federation, we are committed to the development of Britain's triathletes from grassroots level through to potential Olympic champions.
We have been involved with triathlon since 2006 and have helped British Triathlon build an environment which enables people of all abilities to participate in Britain's fastest-growing sport.
We place a strong emphasis on community-based projects, in particular the popular Tata Kids of Steel events, which have introduced triathlon to thousands of schoolchildren of all ages.
As the Presenting Partner of the ITU World Championship London in 2010 and 2011, Tata Steel is committed to supporting and promoting triathlon to a world-wide audience and enhancing both competitor and spectator experience.
We are especially proud of the developments in Paratriathlon, particularly Paratriathlon becoming a Paralympic sport in Rio 2016. We have supported the British Paratriathlon Championships since its’ launch three year’s ago.
The sponsorship also provides an opportunity to demonstrate our commitment to the health, safety and wellbeing of employees and their local communities by encouraging involvement and participation in triathlon and in sport.
Tata Kids of Steel
The Tata Kids of Steel Triathlon Series has introduced over 35,000 children from nearly 400 schools across the UK to the sport of triathlon. There will be 24 events in 2012, the biggest year of the series.
Triathlon
Triathlon is a sport with three different components: Swimming, cycling and running. A triathlon race is continuous, with no stop between the three legs. Changeovers - known as transitions - are vital to the race strategy.
