Triathlon
Triathlon is a sport with three different components: Swimming, cycling and running. A triathlon race is continuous, with no stop between the three legs. Changeovers - known as transitions - are vital to the race strategy.
Each sport requires the competitor to be in peak physical condition and with three such individual sports it calls on the athlete to commit to a rigorous training schedule.

History
The first triathlon was held on the 25th of September 1974 in Mission Bay in San Diego, California, USA.

Rules
The starting point of the race begins with a swim in a lake, river, or the ocean. If the water temperature is below 22oC then a wetsuit can be worn, otherwise competitors will compete in lycra trisuits.
