  • Tata - Kids of Steel® triathlon

    Inspiring future generations

    Tata Steel - in partnership with the British Triathlon Federation - launched the Tata - Kids of Steel Triathlon series in 2007. The series aims to encourage children across Great Britain to adopt a healthier lifestyle through sport and exercise, as well as providing a great day out for the local community.

    To date more than 75,000 children from hundreds of schools throughout Great Britain have experienced the sport of triathlon through the Tata - Kids of Steel Triathlon series.

    In 2016 around 6,600 youngsters aged 8 to 13 will have the chance to take part in the 10th anniversary Tata - Kids of Steel Triathlon events. Find out more about these events by downloading our school information pack

    Seven free events will be held at venues in the UK during May and June. See full list of events and make a booking. 

    Tata Steel also supports other kids activities as part of its Tata – Kids of Steel programme including running, football and chess events. Read more about other Tata – Kids of Steel activities.

    The Tata – Kids of Steel Triathlon series gives youngsters of all abilities the opportunity to have-a-go at all three aspects of triathlon with manageable distances.

    The Tata - Kids of Steel format consists of a short swim of 40-60 metres, followed by a traffic free cycle of 800 to 1200 metres and a run of approximately 400 metres. The events are fully inclusive, ensuring children have a fun and positive experience of sport, regardless of ability. Bikes and helmets are provided and every child that participates receives a t-shirt, swim cap, gym sack and medal.
