    Seat frames and seat tracks

    For seat frames and tracks, our cold-rolled advanced high-strength and ultra high-strength (AHSS/UHSS) multi-phase steels provide the required:

    • weight savings
    • impact strength

    Our AHSS/UHSS tube for cross-members delivers similar benefits.
    For lightweight seat tracks, our AHSS/UHSS complex phase (CP) steels or re-rolled narrow strip provide the answer. They deliver:

    • high strength
    • very tight thickness tolerances

    Thinner gauge, cold-rolled, high-strength steel is ideal for lightweight front seat pans and rear seat back panels. For rear seat back reinforcements, our cold-rolled AHSS tube or roll-formed sections provide the required:

    Instrument panel beam

    The trend for lightweight instrument panel beams is towards the use of AHSS/UHSS tubes. These are tailored to local structural requirements including steering support and airbag loads.

    Seat mechanisms

    Our AHSS/UHSS grades, together with boron steel (for fine blanking), provide opportunities for reducing the weight of seat mechanisms. For lightweight head restraints, we offer nickel pre-plated tubes for cost-reduced chrome plating.
