    Early Vendor Involvement

Early Vendor Involvement, or EVI, involves working closely with equipment makers during the earliest design stages of new product and model developments. It is about providing engineering design advice as well as recommending components, so that off highway machines can be optimised in terms of design, manufacturing and materials.

EVI can bring benefits to lifting and excavating equipment over a whole range of areas. It could be for example in improving the strength-to-weight ratio, or in tackling fatigue levels or product substitution to reduce processing cost.

EVI is one of the cornerstones of Tata Steel’s customer engineering offering, and has been successfully implemented in the automotive sector for around 20 years. These very same principles are today being used by the company’s advanced engineering teams within the lifting and excavating sector. Our engineering teams currently work with a number of original equipment makers and component manufacturers across the industry.
