  • Tata Steel to showcase premium products at Railtex

    21 Mar 2013

Tata Steel will be exhibiting at Railtex 2013 and will once again provide a supporting role as official track sponsor.

The company is providing and installing sections of track in the exhibition hall to form the basis of the popular Railtex feature, known as The Track. This provides exhibitors of rail-mounted equipment with a unique opportunity to display their products in an authentic railway setting.

As well as being part of The Track display, Tata Steel will also be present on Stand H123 at Railtex, showcasing its premium range of main line and urban rail products designed to combat wear, rolling contact fatigue, corrosion and noise pollution, responding to its customers’ requirements for lower life-cycle costs.

Among products being promoted will be:

    • HPrail®, its new patented rail steel offering improved wear and rolling contact fatigue resistance to enhance life and reduce grinding frequency
    • High performance grooved rail, its new urban rail steel, which offers increased wear resistance and is weld-repairable for multiple lives
    • 108m ‘stress-free’ heat treat rail, available from October 2013. Tata Steel’s exceptionally low residual stress rail, which minimises the risk of foot fatigue and provides excellent wear-resistance, will soon be available in long lengths
    • Railcote®, a robust rail coating offering superior protection against corrosion and longer life compared to other forms of corrosion protection
    • SilentTrack®, Tata Steel’s tuned rail damper system, which addresses noise legislation by delivering a 3-7dB improvement
    • Modular and offsite construction, using modular structures to provide shorter construction times, better sustainability, greater site efficiency and improved health and safety

Tata Steel will also highlight its associated services. These range from consultancy, design and engineering to manufacture, installation and onsite project management. It works in partnership with its customers and specially selected partners to deliver high quality, innovative and responsive solutions to meet individual requirements. THJV, its joint venture with Halcrow, is part of Network Rail’s Professional Services Support Framework, aiding the early development stages of investment and renewal projects.

The company’s contribution to the Railtex seminar programme will take place on Thursday 2 May, when Tata Steel Product Marketing Managers David Benton and Daniel Pyke will present a paper entitled ‘More life: less maintenance -Innovative rail products reducing life-cycle costs'.

More than 400 companies will be taking part in Railtex 2013, which takes place at the Earls Court exhibition centre in London from 30 April to 2 May. Visitor registration for free entry is via www.railtex.co.uk
