    This document outlines the Tata Steel privacy policy and how we collect, store and use personal information obtained via the websites on which this policy has been posted (together, the “Websites”) or in connection with invitations on our Websites to supply personal information.

    Collection and use of Personal Information

    There are a number of opportunities on our Websites for you to provide us with personal information which identifies you as an individual such as your name, home or business address, email address and telephone number (“Personal Information”). You might also send us Personal Information in response to invitations on our Websites other than directly through our Websites, such as emailing your CV to an address appearing on our Websites in connection with recruitment opportunities with Tata Steel or another company within the Tata Steel Group [1].

    If you provide Personal Information in this way, it will be collected, processed and stored by Tata Steel or another Tata Steel Group company and each will process your Personal Information only for the following purposes:

    • to provide products or services which you have requested or information which you have requested us to send to you on us or on our products and services; 
    • to deal with any query which you may have in respect of the companies in the Tata Steel Group; 
    • where relevant, to keep records of sales and for market research; 
    • to anticipate or resolve any problems with any goods or services supplied to you; 
    • to help us develop or improve products and services which may better meet your needs; 
    • to allow us to administer or otherwise perform obligations under any agreement that may exist between us; 
    • where you have supplied Personal Information in connection with potential recruitment opportunities, to process job applications; or 
    • to support any of the above activities.

    Additional uses of Personal Information

    From time to time, we (including any Tata Group Company) would like to use your Personal Information either to provide you with information on products and services which we think may be of interest to you or to contact you to assess your satisfaction with our products and services (which in either case may include contacting you by telephone). If at any time you wish us to stop using your Personal Information for these further purposes please contact us.

    In the case of email marketing communications, there will be a link at the bottom of each email providing a means of opting-out of receiving further emails from us.

    Sharing of Personal Information

    We may share your Personal Information with other companies within the Tata Steel Group. Some of these companies may be located outside the European Economic Area[2] (the “EEA”) but we will only share your Personal Information for the purposes stated above, although the level of legal protection you enjoy outside the EEA may be less than the protection you would enjoy inside the EEA.

    We may appoint third party organisations to assist us in providing you with the information, goods, products and services you request or to help us to in developing or improving our products and services (for example, through surveys). If we share your Personal Information with third party organisations in these circumstances, we will take steps to ensure that your Personal Information is transferred, held and used in strict accordance with this privacy policy and is only used for one of these purposes. Some of these organisations may be located outside the EEA where the level of legal protection you enjoy may be less than the protection you would enjoy within the EEA.

    Sensitive personal data

    If we require sensitive personal data (for example, in connection with an application for potential recruitment opportunities), then we will ensure that its collection and use is in accordance with the principles of data protection and data privacy set out in the EC Directive on Data Protection 95/46/EC as implemented by relevant national legislation.

    Links to other sites

    We sometimes provide links to websites outside of the Tata Steel Group of companies that may be industry related or links we may find helpful to the user. Although, we choose these links very carefully they are selected for the user’s convenience only and do not constitute endorsement or approval by Tata Steel, or any other company in the Tata Steel Group of companies, of the content, privacy policies or practices of that site nor any products or services which may be offered through those sites.

    Your rights to information

    You can write to us at our registered office address below at any time to obtain a copy of the information we hold about you, to have any inaccuracies in your personal information corrected or deleted and to have any queries answered.
