    In a study Tata Steel assessed the life-cycle carbon footprint of identically constructed front-end modules made from different materials. The results of the study show: most sustainable as well as the most cost-efficient solution can be provided using steel rather than aluminium or the two tested composites.

    The life-cycle carbon impact of steel is 50% lower than this of the first composite and 44% lower than this of aluminium. The second composite has a similar carbon impact but is more expensive. With a full costing of 24 € the steel solution was considerably cheaper than all other tested composites.
