Executive Committee
The day-to-day management of Tata Steel in Europe is conducted through its Executive Committee, the senior decision-making body which also sets strategic priorities.
Dr. Henrik Adam
Henrik was appointed Chief Executive Officer of Tata Steel in Europe in 2019.

In addition, he took on the responsibilities of the Chief Technical Officer and the Chief Commercial Officer following a reorganisation of the company’s Executive Committee in 2021.

Before joining Tata Steel in 2011 as Chief Commercial Officer, Henrik was CEO of thyssenkrupp Electrical Steel and a Member of the Board of Eisen- und Hüttenwerke AG, the stock exchange listed holding company for the tinplate and electrical steel businesses of thyssenkrupp. Prior to this, he held a wide range of responsibilities for various functions at thyssenkrupp.

Born in Essen in Germany, Henrik is a mechanical engineer by education, who has specialised in the field of automotive engineering, notably in the application of materials in vehicle design. He started his career in 1991 as a scientist in vehicle safety technologies before becoming Managing Director of a German engineering services consultancy company.

Outside of companies he has worked for, Henrik has held various board member and non-executive director positions.

Mr Sandip Biswas, Executive Director and CFO, Tata Steel in Europe
Mr Biswas was appointed to the Board on 1 July 2019 and is the Chief Financial Officer of Tata Steel in Europe.

Mr Sandip Biswas is an honours graduate in commerce from Calcutta University. He is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India and also the Institute of Company Secretaries of India.

Sandip became Executive Director and a member of the Board of Tata Steel Europe in July 2019, responsible for driving the company’s transformation programme. He also became CFO of Tata Steel Europe as of January 1, 2020.

Sandip was formerly the Group Executive Vice President, Finance, for Tata Steel Limited, where he oversaw the group’s financing strategies, including capital structure, mergers and acquisitions, planning and execution of capital raising activities for debt and equity, liquidity management and investor relations activities. He joined Tata Steel in 2005 as the Chief Foreign Exchange & Treasury Management following 12 years working in financial services in foreign exchange and global markets.

Ms Helen Matheson, Director Legal and Company Secretary
Ms Helen Matheson was appointed as Director Legal, Tata Steel Europe and a member of the Tata Steel Europe Executive Committee from 1 May 2009.

She supports the Executive Committee in terms of strategy implementation and its organisation and effectiveness.

Previously, she was Head of Profession and Legal Director, Markets at the Office of Gas & Electricity Markets (Ofgem), the UK energy regulator. Prior to this, Helen worked in private practice for a firm in the City of London, and has worked in legal practice overseas in Brussels and in Philadelphia. She is specialised in corporate and competition laws.

Ms Matheson graduated with an LLB Hons from the University of Glasgow, and has a Masters degree in International and Comparative Laws from the Free University of Brussels. She holds a dual legal qualification in English and Scots law. She is married, and has a son and a daughter.

TV Narendran Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Tata Steel Limited
Mr T V Narendran is the Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Tata Steel Limited, the ultimate parent company of Tata Steel Europe Limited.

As the CEO & MD, he has overseen the organic and inorganic growth of Tata Steel over the last few years. This includes the Kalinganagar greenfield expansion and the acquisition of Bhushan steel and the steel business of Usha Martin. He has over 32 years of experience in the Mining and Metals industry.

Mr. Narendran is currently on the Board of Tata Steel Limited. He is the Chairman of Tata Steel Europe, Tata Steel BSL Limited and Tata Steel Long Products Limited. He is also the Chairman of the Board of Governors of XLRI Jamshedpur. He is a member of the Executive Committee and the Board of the World Steel Association. He was the co-chair of the Mining & Metals Governors Council of the World Economic Forum from 2016 to 2018. He is the President of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), and the Vice President of the Indian Institute of Metals.

Mr. Narendran is a Mechanical Engineer from the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Trichy and did his MBA from the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Calcutta. He is a recipient of Distinguished Alumnus Awards from both NIT Trichy and IIM Calcutta. He is a Chevening Scholar and has also attended the Advanced Management Programme in CEDEP-INSEAD, Fontainebleau, France.

Mr Koushick Chatterjee, Executive Director and Chief Financial Officer of Tata Steel Limited
Mr Chatterjee was appointed to the Board on 12 October 2006. He is also the Executive Director and Chief Financial Officer of Tata Steel Limited.

Koushik joined Tata Steel in 1995 was appointed Vice President (Finance) in 2004.

In September 2013, Koushik was appointed as Group Executive Director (Finance & Corporate) and in February 2016, was appointed as Tata Steel’s Executive Director for Europe. He was also re-designated as Group Executive Director (Finance, Corporate & Europe). Most recently, Mr Chatterjee has been re-appointed as Executive Director and Chief Financial Officer with effect from November 9, 2017. 

Koushik is on the board of several Tata Steel Group companies. He is a member of the Primary Market Advisory Committee on Capital Markets of SEBI, a fellow member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India and has been appointed as the first Indian on the Global Preparers Forum. He is also a member of the International Integrated Reporting Council, Global Task Forces on Climate-Related Financial Disclosures, Switzerland, the B20 Task Forces under the Chairmanship of Germany on Energy, Climate & Resource Efficiency, Responsible Business Conduct & Anti-Corruption and is a Director of the World Steel Association, Belgium. 

Mr Chatterjee was declared India’s ‘Best Executive’ for 2009 by Asia Money.

Mr Om Prakash Bhatt, Non-Executive Director
Mr Bhatt was appointed to the Board as a non-executive director on 1 June 2020. He is also Chair of the Tata Steel Europe Limited Audit Committee.

Appointed as the Interim Chairman of Tata Steel from November 25, 2016 before Mr N Chandrasekaran took over, Mr O P Bhatt has been the Chairman, State Bank Group - which includes the State Bank of India, five associate banks in India, five overseas banks, SBI Life, SBI Capital Markets, SBI Fund Management; and other subsidiaries.

He has served as the Chairman of the Indian Banks’ Association, the apex body of Indian banks and was the government’s nominee on the India-US CEO Forum, Indo-French CEO Forum and Indo-Russia CEO Forum.

He currently serves as an Independent Director on several boards including Greenko Energy Holdings(GEH)., Tata Consultancy Services and Hindustan Unilever among others.
