Celsius® by Tata Steel approved to NHSS

Tata Steel has received approval to the National Highways Sector Scheme 3B for production of their Celsius® range of hot-finished hollow sections from their sites at Hartlepool and Corby.

NHSS 3B describes the quality system for supply of structural steel products into UK infrastructure projects and is obligatory across the supply chain for Highways England projects from September 2018.

The schemes aim is to ensure that work is carried out to the highest standards of professionalism, using properly trained staff, with a strong emphasis on health and safety.

Although the focus is on the stocking and distribution of structural steel products, the standard is applicable to manufacturers, so this accreditation can help to secure the full supply chain.

The NHSS approval builds on the ISO 9001 quality system which has been fully embedded by Tata Steel for the production of Celsius for many years.

Chris Western, Works Manager at Corby stated “The NHSS approval builds on our existing quality systems and long history of supply into this sector and also reflects our own emphasis on health and safety.”

“Our Celsius hollow sections are widely used for gantries and bridges and this accreditation gives peace-of-mind to the sector for an assured supply chain going forward.”
