What previous industry experience do you have?
I have a wide breadth of experience within the building and service industries linked to construction. I have held a number of commercial roles outside of the steel industry mostly within the plant and building hire sector.

What will you bring to the Colorcoat Connection® helpline?
A wealth of technical and practical building knowledge that I have amassed over the years combined with a can do attitude. I also believe my face to face commercial sales and business management experience will enable me to provide a professional technical service to the Colorcoat Connection® callers.

What do you like about working at Tata Steel specifically with Colorcoat®?
I like the fast pace and vibrancy of the office here at Shotton and enjoy the teams commitment and good humour in getting the job done right first time.

What will be the best thing about your role managing the Colorcoat Connection® helpline?
For me any call to the Colorcoat Connection® helpline may be that persons first contact with Tata Steel so being involved in providing a good first impression and positive experience of our business is an exciting prospect.

Do you have any hobbies or interests?
Currently converting a van into a camper, I also enjoy mountain biking, walking and skiing when possible.

Who would you like most to meet?
Nelson Mandela, because he is truly one of the greatest statesman that has lived, and he is proof of what an individual can achieve when they put their mind to it.

Richard has large boots to fill in his new role, as on 16^th September 2016 our previous Colorcoat Connection® helpline Manager Ian Burns hung up his phone for retirement, after 42 years of working in the company.

This is a massive achievement and Ian is a testament to the historic and continued development of the company and we wish him all the best in his retirement! Asking Ian about his time with the company he had this to say,

“Over the years I have been lucky to meet and talk to a myriad of people both inside and outside of the business. Hopefully during my time handling the Colorcoat Connection® helpline I have assisted people/companies with their queries and along the way helped with the sale of our products. I have many fond memories of the people that I have worked with and hope that their hard work and dedication will get the rewards they deserve”.
