Tata Steel puts sustainability and digitisation in focus

At this year’s Tube fair, Tata Steel will be showcasing additions to its advanced cold-formed and hot-finished tubular products meeting today’s requirements for reliable and consistent processing as well as a low environmental impact.

The hot-finished structural hollow sections Celsius® 420 deliver higher strength and tight corner radii, ideal for lighter structures in the construction and engineering industries without compromising on weldability.

With two new digital tools the steel producer also presents services that help customers to tap the full potential of the advanced materials in their manufacturing lines.

Among the product highlights is the extended range of Hybox® TT, a family of cold-formed structural hollow sections with tight tolerances and a superior surface finish for automated component manufacturing. The new grades comprise higher strength levels, additional dimensions, sizes and shapes for heavy vehicle fabrication.

Automotive manufacturers profit from the advanced high strength precision tube offering that can significantly reduce weight and cost, enabling the design of next generation headrests, twist-beams, chassis structures or instrument panel beams.

With our range of advanced hot-finished and cold-formed tube products, our strong commitment to sustainability and our customer-focused service offering we consistently help our customers to stand out in their markets.

Sustainable manufacturing and products
Customers are able to benefit from the implementation of responsible and best-practice procedures at Tata Steel,  which strive to measure and reduce the use of resources and help to create a sustainable production and supply framework.

A recent example is the Environmental Product Declarations (EPD) programme. This measures the impact of products on the environment through Life Cycle Assessments (LCA).

Tata Steel is considered one of the pioneers and recently received the prestigious Steelie Award from the World Steel Association for its EPD program. Tata Steel is also the first steel tube manufacturer to certify all its operations to the BES 6001 international standard for responsible sourcing in the construction industry.

Ensuring the best fit with digital services
With digital tools like the recently launched DNA Profiler and its Blue Book, Tata Steel offers customers two easy to use online platforms for the entire structural hollow section range.

The free-to-use and web-based DNA Profiler allows a rapid product selection and provides 3D- and BIM-models (Building Information Modelling) that can be customised completely in terms of the required material data and the native file format for the design software.

The Blue Book facilitates steelwork designs with extensive structural property data to help deliver efficient design to Eurocode standards. Both tools form part of Tata Steel’s Customer Technical Service (CTS) that also comprises other technical services such as Early Vendor Involvement for the cooperation in early product design stages.

Potential clients are welcome to find out more about Tata Steel’s future plans and talk to the company’s experts at the Tube fair in Hall 4, booth F03.
