Tata Steel Europe announces sale of Firsteel

Tata Steel in Europe today announced it has signed a Business Purchase Agreement with William King Limited for the sale of Firsteel.

In May 2018 Tata Steel announced it was seeking a buyer for Firsteel, a coated steel bakeware manufacturer in Walsall, UK, and other business units which supply products to niche markets. The sale of these non-core businesses allows the company to continue to strengthen its focus on strategic strip products and markets.

William King is a long-standing family-run independent service centre which supplies the automotive, domestic appliance, metal packaging and construction sectors.

As a responsible seller Tata Steel committed to seeking the best and most sustainable future for Firsteel and its 50 employees.

Tata Steel’s European operations will continue to employ about 21,000 people manufacturing advanced products for the automotive, construction, engineering and packaging sectors.
