Mechanical Properties

The values shown for strength and elongation in the table below are for test pieces taken transverse to the rolling direction; those for the impact test are for test pieces taken in the rolling direction.

EN 10028-2: 2009 Grade P265GH
Min. yield strength 1 ReH (N/mm2) 265
Tensile strength  Rm (N/mm2) 410 - 530
Elongation % 22
Impact stength 2 Temp. °C -20
  Min. energy J 27
1. Upper yield strength or 0.2% proof stress applies.
2. Impact strengths apply to thicknesses > 6 mm and are for standard test pieces only. Please contact us for details.
Elongation after fracture A uses test piece length L0 = 5.65√S0.
t – material thickness in mm.

Chemical composition

Structural steel meets the requirements of the cast analysis in the standard, as shown in the table below.

The steel grades supplied by Tata Steel are always fully killed.
Tata Steel does not supply steel with increased copper content.

  Grade P265GH
C Max. 0.20
Mn Min. - Max. 0.801 - 1.40
P Max. 0.025
S Max. 0.010
Si Max. 0.400
Altot Min. 0.020
Nb Max. 0.020
Ti Max. 0.030
V Max. 0.020
1. For product thicknesses < 6 mm, a minimum manganese content of 0.20 % lower than specified is permitted.
All values are in weight%.
Tata Steel does not use Cr, Cu, Mo or Ni as alloying elements for these specific steel grades.
