Metallic coated
Multiple benefits

Grades

Metallic coated grades include advanced high-strength steelshigh-strength steelsstructural steels and grades for forming.

Coatings

Three types of metallic coating are available:

Pure zinc

Galvanized steel (+Z) is coated with an almost pure zinc coating (>99% zinc).

Zinc-iron alloy

Galvannealed steel (+ZF) is coated with a zinc coating containing
approximately 8-12% iron. For further information on our galvannealed coatings please visit our Automotive catalogue

MagiZinc

MagiZinc steel (+ZM) is coated with a zinc coating containing
additional magnesium and aluminium.

Coating weight

Coating Minimum Maximum
Pure zinc (Z) 100 (7 µm/side) 600 (42 µm/side)
Zinc-iron (ZF) 90 (6 µm/side) 140 (10 µm/side)
MagiZinc (ZM)1 100 (7 µm/side) 200 (14 µm/side)
Coating weight measured in g/m2 double-sided (µm, per side).
Coils with coatings > 450 g/m2 will be supplied in oscillated coiled condition.
Coils coated with 600 g/m2 are only available in width range 980 to 1300 mm.

Steel for forming

Our cold-rolled forming steels are available in a wide range of grades and corrosion-resistant coatings. Each grade is designed for specific applications and comes with a choice of surface quality. Extensive dimensional choice provides opportunities for cutting waste and maximizing yield.

MagiZinc® improves corrosion resistance with half the thickness of conventional zinc coatings, increasing yield, reducing cost and facilitating stronger, lighter products. It offers improved automotive corrosion protection and higher process efficiency.

    High-strength steel

Our range of metallic coated high-strength steels includes micro-alloyed, phosphorus-alloyed and bake-hardening grades.

Available with various corrosion-resistant coatings, they are ideal for applications requiring strength without a weight penalty. MagiZinc® coatings optimise weight savings.

    Structural steel

Tata Steel’s metallic coated structural steel is suitable for a wide range of applications.

For exceptionally demanding applications, our choice of grades includes products that exceed the minimum strength levels specified in the national standards. MagiZinc® improves corrosion resistance with half the thickness of conventional zinc coatings, increasing yield, reducing cost and facilitating stronger, lighter products.
