Unlocking lightweighting potential
Body-in-white lightweighting is driven by reduced CO2 emissions. Our comprehensive range of advanced and ultra high-strength steels, including the formability enhanced HyperForm® steels have the ability to unlock a huge lightweighting potential – by enabling the use of higher strength steel in more components.
Seeking increased press shop yields?
As a steel producer, we understand only too well how inefficiencies in any process step can lead to increased costs. Process efficiencies in the press shop can be achieved with:
- highly formable steels such as DX58D+Z
- HyperForm® products that enlarge operating windows
- innovative MagiZinc® Auto coating which helps reduce galling
- advanced boosterlubes such as Prime Lubrication Treatment which helps to reduce tool maintenance

Over the past 20 years, the anti-corrosion lifetime of modern vehicles has improved tremendously through a combination of better paint systems and standardised zinc coatings for automotive steel.

A full range of advanced and ultra high-strength steel
Tata Steel offers a wide choice of metallic coated steels. Our extensive choice of dimensions, including 2020mm wide strip, provides opportunities for reducing waste and maximising yield.
All steels are available with corrosion-resistant coatings, including the advanced MagiZinc® Auto coating. Grades for exposed body panels are available in various surface quality levels, including the premium surface finish Serica®.
We offer a full range of modern advanced and ultra high-strength steels which are available in strengths of up to 1000 MPa, such as HyperForm® steel and complex phase steels. We are continuously expanding our product portfolio to help you meet new and emerging requirements.

Advanced engineering and total cost of ownership
Tata Steel supports the car industry with advanced engineering services to fully exploit the benefits of advanced steels. We have extensive BIW application knowledge and services to identify weight saving opportunities to lower your total cost of ownership (TCO).
Our TCO Scans identify and quantify the TCO reduction potential that our advanced steels, coatings and lubrications offer for your specific processes and applications. TCO Scans can be used both on an existing part where the emphasis is on improving press shop performance and on new parts yet to start production.
