    Our die-quenched hot forming steel 22MnB5 is a hot-rolled ultra high-strength steel.

    It enables an excellent degree of shape accuracy and mechanical performance. Its ultra high strength delivers significant benefits – especially when it comes to weight saving.

    Overview

     

    Hardenable boron steel

    22MnB5, 26MnB5 and 30MnB5 are hot-rolled, uncoated steels and offer uniform formability with excellent work hardening behavior.

    When delivered, the material is "soft" and enables the molding of relatively complex components.
    The final strength of the end product is created during a heat treatment in which boron is added and which leads to the work hardening of this carbon-manganese-chromium alloy. These also have homogeneous material properties that ensure an even and predictable performance of the final components. The material is very clean, because careful attention is paid to possible contamination. This contributes to consistent formability and weldability. This product is used in numerous end product applications in agriculture and the automotive industry, including stabilizers, drive and transmission shafts.

    Our stamped hot-formed steel enables an excellent degree of shape accuracy and mechanical performance. The ultra-high strength offers considerable advantages - especially when saving weight. By switching to boron steels from high-strength low-alloy or two-phase steels, designers can reduce the material thickness and thus create stronger and lighter structures. We can deliver our hot-formed steel either in the non-inserted state or in the inserted and oiled state.

    The "as rolled" condition is suitable for molding both before and during heat and quenching treatments. The hardness properties of the steel after heat treatment make it very suitable for applications that require high wear resistance.
