EN-Engineering-Product-Metallic Coated-Structural steel-S220GD-Properties
Properties
Mechanical properties
Metallic coated structural steel grades have the following mechanical properties (skin-passed) - these are measured longitudinal to the rolling direction:
EN 10346: 2015 | Grade | S220GD+Z/+ZM |
---|---|---|
Min. yield strength Rp0.2 | N/mm² | 220 |
Min. tensile strength Rm | N/mm² | 300 |
Elongation | % | 20 |
If the yield point is pronounced, the values apply to the upper yield point ReH.
A range of 140 N/mm² can be expected for tensile strength.
Elongation after fracture uses test piece length L0 = 80 mm.
For a thickness t ≤ 0.7 mm the minimum elongation after fracture is decreased by 2% and for a thickness t ≤ 0.5mm the minimum elongation after fracture is decreased by 4%.
Chemical composition
Tata Steel supplies the following cast analysis with maximum values unless otherwise shown:

Properties
Mechanical properties
Metallic coated structural steel grades have the following mechanical properties (skin-passed) - these are measured longitudinal to the rolling direction:
EN 10346: 2015 | Grade | S250GD+Z/+ZM |
---|---|---|
Min. yield strength Rp0.2 | N/mm² | 250 |
Min. tensile strength Rm | N/mm² | 330 |
Elongation | % | 19 |
If the yield point is pronounced, the values apply to the upper yield point ReH.
A range of 140 N/mm² can be expected for tensile strength.
Elongation after fracture uses test piece length L0 = 80 mm.
For a thickness t ≤ 0.7 mm the minimum elongation after fracture is decreased by 2% and for a thickness t ≤ 0.5mm the minimum elongation after fracture is decreased by 4%.

EN-Engineering-Product-Metallic Coated-Structural steel-S280GD-Properties
Properties
Mechanical properties
Metallic coated structural steel grades have the following mechanical properties (skin-passed) - these are measured longitudinal to the rolling direction:
EN 10346: 2015 | Grade | S280GD+Z/+ZM |
---|---|---|
Min. yield strength Rp0.2 | N/mm² | 280 |
Min. tensile strength Rm | N/mm² | 360 |
Elongation | % | 18 |
If the yield point is pronounced, the values apply to the upper yield point ReH.
For all grades except S550GD+Z a range of 140 N/mm² can be expected for tensile strength.
Elongation after fracture uses test piece length L0 = 80 mm.
For a thickness t ≤ 0.7 mm the minimum elongation after fracture is decreased by 2% and for a thickness t ≤ 0.5mm the minimum elongation after fracture is decreased by 4%.

EN-Engineering-Product-Metallic Coated-Structural steel-S320GD-Properties
Properties
Mechanical properties
Metallic coated structural steel grades have the following mechanical properties (skin-passed) - these are measured longitudinal to the rolling direction:
EN 10346: 2015 | Grade | S320GD+Z/+ZM |
---|---|---|
Min. yield strength Rp0.2 | N/mm² | 320 |
Min. tensile strength Rm | N/mm² | 390 |
Elongation | % | 17 |
If the yield point is pronounced, the values apply to the upper yield point ReH.
A range of 140 N/mm² can be expected for tensile strength.
Elongation after fracture uses test piece length L0 = 80 mm.
For a thickness t ≤ 0.7 mm the minimum elongation after fracture is decreased by 2% and for a thickness t ≤ 0.5mm the minimum elongation after fracture is decreased by 4%.
Chemical composition
Tata Steel supplies the following cast analysis with maximum values unless otherwise shown:

EN-Engineering-Product-Metallic Coated-Structural steel-S350GD-Properties
Properties
Mechanical properties
Metallic coated structural steel grades have the following mechanical properties (skin-passed) - these are measured longitudinal to the rolling direction:
EN 10346: 2015 | Grade | S350GD+Z/+ZM |
---|---|---|
Min. yield strength Rp0.2 | N/mm² | 350 |
Min. tensile strength Rm | N/mm² | 420 |
Elongation | % | 16 |
If the yield point is pronounced, the values apply to the upper yield point ReH.
A range of 140 N/mm² can be expected for tensile strength.
Elongation after fracture uses test piece length L0 = 80 mm.
For a thickness t ≤ 0.7 mm the minimum elongation after fracture is decreased by 2% and for a thickness t ≤ 0.5mm the minimum elongation after fracture is decreased by 4%.
Chemical composition
Tata Steel supplies the following cast analysis with maximum values unless otherwise shown:

Coatings
Three types of metallic coating are available:
Pure zinc
Galvanised steel (+Z) is coated with an almost pure zinc coating (>99% zinc).
Zinc-iron alloy
Galvannealed steel (+ZF) is coated with a zinc coating containing approximately 8-12% iron.
For further information on our galvannealed products please visit our Automotive catalogue.
MagiZinc
MagiZinc steel (+ZM) is coated with a zinc coating containing additional magnesium and aluminium.
Coating weight
Coating | Minimum | Maximum |

EN-Engineering-Product-Metallic Coated-Structural steel-S390GD-Properties
Properties
Mechanical properties
Metallic coated structural steel grades have the following mechanical properties (skin-passed) - these are measured longitudinal to the rolling direction:
EN 10346: 2015 | Grade | S390GD+Z/+ZM |
---|---|---|
Min. yield strength Rp0.2 | N/mm² | 390 |
Min. tensile strength Rm | N/mm² | 460 |

C | Max. | 0.20 |
Mn | Max. | 1.70 |
P | Max. | 0.10 |

EN-Engineering-Product-Metallic Coated-Structural steel-S420GD-Properties
Properties
Mechanical properties
Metallic coated structural steel grades have the following mechanical properties (skin-passed) - these are measured longitudinal to the rolling direction:
EN 10346: 2015 | Grade | S420GD+Z/+ZM |
---|---|---|
Min. yield strength Rp0.2 | N/mm² | 420 |
Min. tensile strength Rm | N/mm² | 480 |
Elongation | % | 15 |
If the yield point is pronounced, the values apply to the upper yield point ReH.
A range of 140 N/mm² can be expected for tensile strength.
Elongation after fracture uses test piece length L0 = 80 mm.
For a thickness t ≤ 0.7 mm the minimum elongation after fracture is decreased by 2% and for a thickness t ≤ 0.5mm the minimum elongation after fracture is decreased by 4%.
Chemical composition
Tata Steel supplies the following cast analysis with maximum values unless otherwise shown:
EN 10346: 2015 | Grade | S420GD+Z/+ZM |

C | Max. | 0.20 |
Mn | Max. | 1.70 |
P | Max. | 0.10 |
S | Max. | 0.045 |

EN-Engineering-Product-Metallic Coated-Structural steel-S450GD-Properties
Properties
Mechanical properties
Metallic coated structural steel grades have the following mechanical properties (skin-passed) - these are measured longitudinal to the rolling direction:
EN 10346: 2015 | Grade | S450GD+Z/+ZM |
---|---|---|
Min. yield strength Rp0.2 | N/mm² | 450 |
Min. tensile strength Rm | N/mm² | 510 |
Elongation | % | 14 |

EN-Engineering-Product-Metallic Coated-Structural steel-S550GD-Properties
Properties
Mechanical properties
Metallic coated structural steel grades have the following mechanical properties (skin-passed) - these are measured longitudinal to the rolling direction:
EN 10346: 2015 | Grade | S550GD+Z |
---|---|---|
Min. yield strength Rp0.2 | N/mm² | 550 |
Min. tensile strength Rm | N/mm² | 560 |
Elongation | % | - |
If the yield point is pronounced, the values apply to the upper yield point ReH.
EN 10346: 2015 | Grade | S550GD+Z |
---|---|---|
C | Max. | 0.20 |
Mn | Max. | 1.70 |
P | Max. | 0.10 |
S | Max. | 0.045 |
Si | Max. | 0.60 |
All values in weight%.
