Uday Chaturvedi appointed Chief Technical Officer of Tata Steel Europe

Uday Chaturvedi has been appointed Tata Steel Europe's Chief Technical Officer with effect from 1 October 2010.

He will join the company's Executive Committee and will report directly to the Tata Steel Europe MD and CEO.

The responsibilities of the new role will include Tata Steel Europe's proposed new manufacturing hubs.  A replacement as head of Strip Products in the UK will be announced in due course.

Mr Chaturvedi has held a number of high-level operational positions during his career with the Tata Steel Group.  Before becoming Managing Director of Corus Strip Products UK in 2008, he was Vice-President Coke, Sinter and Iron and TQM in Jamshedpur.
