Tata Steel Colors certified to BES 6001

Tata Steel Colors has become the first steel business to be certified to the BES 6001 Responsible Sourcing standard for construction and has been awarded a ‘very good’ rating.

The certification is for Colorcoat® products manufactured at Shotton and externally recognises the excellent work Colors is doing in sustainability.

Sustainability is becoming an increasingly important issue within construction and many construction companies are recognising the need to prove that their buildings are built with sustainability in mind.  One way to do so is through the responsible sourcing of products used in construction and the onus of proof is increasingly being passed down to the manufacturers of products used in construction.  BES 6001 is a relatively new standard designed to address this issue and enable construction product manufacturers to demonstrate their products have been made with responsibly sourced materials.
