Tata Steel today continues to motor ahead in the automotive sector being recognised by iconic British car maker Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) for the quality of the products it supplies.

It means every one of Tata Steel’s automotive focused sites across Europe have now earned the JLRQ Award – designed to recognise suppliers which meet the high quality and delivery standards expected by the prestige car maker.

Commenting on the latest achievement, which has seen Tata Steel’s Llanwern hub secure an ‘Excellent’ rating, William Morgan, Customer Technical Services Engineer said: “The award is testament to the hard work and commitment demonstrated by the whole team in the UK supply chain.

“JLR manufacture world-leading products and expect their suppliers to be able to meet the very highest standards for quality, service and delivery. They’re very much a super-brand – so we owe it to them to get it right.”

A JLR spokesman said: “At Jaguar Land Rover it is very important to us that our suppliers are able to meet our quality requirements as laid out in our supplier quality standard JLRQ. I am delighted to be able to present this award to Tata Steel’s Zodiac line at the Llanwern hub for demonstrating their ability to meet our quality standard.”

Tata Steel is continuing to invest in increasing the amount of high-value, differentiated products it supplies into the automotive market, much of which passes through the Llanwern site where steel for the sector is galvanised and prepared before delivery.

The hub already supplies steel for a range of JLR models including the Jaguar XE, XF and the new new F-Pace as well as the Evoque, Discovery Sport and the all-new Discovery.
