Host and Public Relations & Social Media Specialist Abigail Thomas, chats to Georgia to find about her transition from apprentice to leading scientist based at Port Talbot’s Basic Oxygen Steelmaking plant.
Abi said: “I was delighted to welcome her onto the podcast because we need to be sharing more success stories like hers, so that women and girls everywhere know there’s a place for them in steel.”

Georgia added: “Less than nine months ago, I entered this industry as a Higher Laboratories Apprentice. And today, I get to say I’m a Leading Technician in the Raw Materials department.
“There are opportunities everywhere in steel – and I want people to know that. I want to show women and girls everywhere that anything is possible.
“Yes, there are inevitably barriers and inequalities we will face along the way. This is why we need better representation in our industry, why we need celebrate each other and give a helping hand along the way.
She concluded: “I was delighted to join a podcast that’s highlighting female and minority leaders, mentors, scientists and engineers on a global platform.”
